Visual Schedule Maker

Build printable visual schedules, first-then boards and routine cards with picture symbols or your own photos. Free, fast, and your photos never leave your device.

Photos you add are read on this device with the browser file reader. They are never uploaded.

Steps

Click a symbol square to pick a picture or upload a photo. Drag the handle, or use the arrow buttons, to reorder. You can also type straight onto the sheet below: tap a label to edit it, or tap a symbol to swap it.

Live mode is an accessibility lifeline, so it is free and unlimited forever. No credits, no ads in the way, no sign in. Use it on a phone or tablet as many times a day as you need.

Free for personal, classroom and therapy use. Sheets printed on the free tier carry a light diagonal "ZillaKit.com" watermark and a small credit line. Premium removes the watermark and adds a commercial licence, for therapists sharing resources and for anyone selling printable packs.

How to use the Visual Schedule Maker

  1. Pick a layout: a daily strip, a horizontal strip, a First and Then board, a Now, Next, Then strip, a weekly routine grid, or a sheet of cut-out cards.
  2. Add your steps. Click each symbol square to search the built in picture library, or upload a photo of the real object, room or person from your device.
  3. Type a short label under each symbol, then set the symbol and label sizes so the sheet reads clearly from across the room.
  4. Choose A4 or US Letter, then click Print schedule for a clean black on white sheet. The cut-out card sheet includes dashed cut guides.
  5. Save the schedule as a named project, or export it as a JSON file so you can back it up and load it on another device.

Why use ZillaKit's Visual Schedule Maker?

Visual schedules turn an invisible sequence of events into something a person can see, touch and check off. They are used every day in autism support, in ADHD routines, in early years classrooms, in speech and occupational therapy, and in dementia care, because a picture sequence removes the working memory load that spoken instructions demand. The problem is that most schedule makers are locked behind subscriptions, require an account before you can print a single sheet, or push your family photos to a server you know nothing about. This one does neither. Everything runs inside your browser: the symbol library is built into the page, and any photo you add is read locally with the browser file reader, so pictures of your child, your kitchen or your ward stay on the device you are using.

The six layouts cover the requests that come up most often. A numbered daily strip works for a full morning or bedtime routine. A First and Then board is the classic two step motivator when a preferred activity follows a hard one. Now, Next, Then adds a middle step for people who can hold a slightly longer sequence. The weekly grid doubles as a printable routine chart with a tick box for every day. The cut-out card sheet prints uniform squares at 4, 5 or 6 centimetres, sized to laminate and back with hook-and-loop dots so the same set can be rearranged on a strip each morning. Every sheet prints black on white to save ink and to stay readable under classroom lighting, whichever site theme you are using on screen.

Live mode is deliberately free and never limited. It puts the schedule full screen with large touch targets, marks each step with a big tick when it is tapped, shows progress dots along the bottom, and can read each label aloud with the browser speech voice. That matters for people who cannot use a printer at that moment, so it is not something we will ever put behind a credit counter.

FAQ

Is the visual schedule maker really free to print?

Yes. You can build and print schedules for free for personal, classroom and therapy use. Free printouts carry a light diagonal watermark and a small credit line at the bottom of the sheet. Premium removes both and adds a commercial licence if you sell printable packs.

Can I use photos of my own child or my own home?

Yes, and it is often the most effective option, because a photo of your actual bathroom is easier to recognise than a generic icon. Photos are opened with the browser file reader and stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and no account is needed.

What is a First Then board and when should I use one?

A First Then board shows two pictures: the task that has to happen first, and the preferred activity that follows. It is used to reduce anxiety around transitions by making the reward visible and concrete. Choose the First, Then layout, set two symbols, and print it at full page size.

How do I make routine cards for lamination and hook-and-loop dots?

Choose the cut-out cards layout and pick a card size of 4, 5 or 6 centimetres. The sheet prints a grid of uniform squares with light dashed cut guides. Print, laminate the sheet, cut along the guides, then add a hook-and-loop dot to the back of each card so it can be moved on a schedule strip.

Does the tap to speak part work without internet?

Live mode uses the speech voices already built into your browser and device, so once the page has loaded it keeps working offline. If your device has no speech voice installed, the tick and progress features still work normally.

Can I save several different schedules?

Yes. Save as many named projects as you like in this browser, then load them from the dropdown. You can also export any schedule as a JSON file and import it later, or on another device, which is the safest way to keep a backup.
