Why use ZillaKit's image size compressor?
Email attachments, forums and upload forms often cap the file size, and guessing a quality percentage is tedious. ZillaKit does the guessing for you with a binary search: it re-encodes your image at different quality levels until the result lands at or just under your target KB budget, using the fewest passes possible. Because it all happens on the HTML canvas inside your browser, your files never leave your device and there is no upload wait. You get an immediate before-and-after comparison so you can confirm the quality is acceptable before downloading. There is no watermark, no signup, and the free tier is generous. It is the fastest way to hit a strict size limit without manually exporting an image over and over in a heavy editor.
FAQ
How does the tool hit an exact KB size?
It runs a binary search over the JPEG or WebP quality setting, re-encoding until the output is at or just below your target size, then hands you that best result.
Can it compress a PNG?
You can drop a PNG in, but output is JPEG or WebP because those formats let us tune quality to hit a size target. For photos this gives much smaller files.
What if the target is too small?
If even the lowest quality is above your target, we give you the smallest version we can produce and let you know. Try lowering the resolution first for very tight limits.
Are my images uploaded?
No. All compression happens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
