How this works, honestly: your file is uploaded to our server, converted with LibreOffice, and offered back to download. This is not a browser-only tool — the file leaves your device to be processed, then it is deleted. Conversions into a fixed-layout format such as PDF are very faithful; converting out of PDF back into an editable document is imperfect and works best on text-based PDFs.
Files are processed on our Australian server and deleted within an hour (usually the moment your download is ready). We run the conversion on hardware we own — your file is never handed to a big-tech cloud.

Why use ZillaKit's document converter?

This free online document converter is powered by LibreOffice, a full open-source office engine, so it handles a wide range of formats faithfully: Word (DOCX, DOC), OpenDocument Text (ODT), RTF and TXT; Excel (XLSX, XLS), OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS) and CSV; PowerPoint (PPTX, PPT) and OpenDocument Presentation (ODP); plus PDF. Drop in a file and the tool shows only the conversions that make sense for it, so you never pick an invalid pair. There is no signup, no watermark and no email wall. Because faithful conversion needs a full office engine, this runs on our own server — we are upfront that your file is uploaded, converted and then deleted within an hour. Everything runs on hardware we own and operate in Australia, so your documents are never handed to a big-tech cloud and are never used to train a model. Conversions into PDF preserve layout very well; converting from PDF back into an editable document is inherently imperfect and works best on text-based PDFs.

FAQ

What formats can I convert between?

Word (DOCX, DOC), ODT, RTF and TXT; Excel (XLSX, XLS), ODS and CSV; PowerPoint (PPTX, PPT) and ODP; and PDF. After you choose a file, the tool lists only the valid target formats for it — for example a DOCX can become PDF, ODT, TXT or RTF, while a PDF can become an editable DOCX.

Does my file get uploaded to a server?

Yes. Faithful document conversion needs a full office engine, so the file is uploaded to our own server, converted with LibreOffice, and then automatically deleted within an hour. It is never sent to a big-tech cloud.

Which conversions are most reliable?

Anything into PDF is very faithful because PDF is a fixed-layout format. Office-to-office conversions (for example DOCX to ODT) are also reliable. Converting from PDF back into an editable Word document is the hardest case and works best on text-based PDFs; complex or scanned PDFs may need cleanup.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, uploads are capped at 50 MB, which covers the vast majority of documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
