How this works, honestly: a voice note goes to ZillaKit's transcription queue to be turned into text. The description text is then processed by the AI service for Pro members so it can be split into line items. The quote itself, your business details, your customers and your prices stay in this browser and are never uploaded. Rates are never invented: if you did not say a price, the rate is left blank for you to fill in.

How to use Voice to Quote

  1. Tap the record button and describe the job the way you would explain it to your business partner: what the work is, roughly how long it takes, what materials are involved, and any rate you have already settled on.
  2. Stop the recording. The voice note is transcribed and the text lands in the review box, where you can fix any word the transcription misheard.
  3. Click Turn into quote lines. The description is split into an editable table of line items with a description, a quantity, a unit and a rate.
  4. Fill in any highlighted rate. A highlighted rate means you never stated a price for that item, so nothing has been guessed on your behalf.
  5. Add your business details, the customer, the quote number and your terms, then click Print / save as PDF, or Copy as text to drop the quote straight into a text message or an email.

Why speak a quote instead of typing one?

Quoting is the part of the job that never happens on the job. You measure up, you talk it through with the customer, you promise to send something over, and then the paperwork waits until nine at night when you would rather be anywhere else. Two days later the customer has gone with whoever answered first. A voice to quote app for tradies fixes the slow part, which is not the pricing, it is the writing. What to say when you record

Talk in plain terms and include numbers wherever you know them. Something like "rear deck rebuild at forty five Client Road, about six hours to strip the old deck, twelve square metres of merbau decking, four new bearers, a skip bin, and I am on eighty five an hour" is more than enough. Quantities that you say out loud become quantities in the table. Rates that you say out loud become rates. Anything you skip becomes a blank line for you to price. If you ramble, repeat yourself or change your mind halfway through, that is fine, the cleanup step is expecting it.

Do I need a subscription to use this tradie quoting tool?

The page, the line item editor and the printable quote are free to anyone. Recording a voice note and having the description turned into line items automatically are ZillaKit Pro features, because transcription and AI cost money on every single run. Without Pro you can still paste or type a job description, add the lines by hand, and print exactly the same quote.

Will the AI make up prices for me?

No, and that is deliberate. The instruction sent to the model states that a rate may only be used when you stated a price or a rate yourself, and that it must never invent, estimate or guess one. Lines with no stated price come back blank and are highlighted so you cannot miss them. Nobody but you decides what your work is worth.

Where does my voice note go?

The audio is sent to ZillaKit's transcription queue, transcribed into text, and then removed. The resulting text is sent to the AI service to be split into line items when you click the button. The quote data itself, including your business details, customer details and rates, never leaves your browser.

How long can a recording be?

Three minutes, with a countdown warning in the last thirty seconds. That is far longer than most job descriptions need, and keeping notes short keeps the transcription fast. For a bigger job, record it in a couple of passes and paste them together in the review box.

What if the transcript gets a word wrong?

Fix it. The transcript lands in an ordinary editable text box before anything else happens, so you can correct a misheard product name or a wrong number before it becomes a line item. You can also edit every field of every line afterwards, and add, remove or reorder rows by hand.

Can I include GST?

Yes. Tax is on by default at ten per cent with a GST label, and every part of it is editable. Rename it to VAT or sales tax, change the rate, switch between tax added on top and rates that already include tax, or turn tax off entirely.

Can I send the quote as a text message?

Yes. Copy as text puts a plain text version of the quote on your clipboard, formatted for pasting into a message or an email body. Print / save as PDF gives you the formatted one-page document instead.

Does the microphone work on a phone?

On most modern mobile browsers, yes, and the page is built for one-handed use on a phone. Your browser will ask permission for the microphone the first time. If you decline, or the browser does not support recording, the paste path still does everything else.
